Sex and hormonal disorders occur in both men and women. The causes of these disorders can usually be attributed to a certain event or other medical condition in a person's life. Hormones are responsible for our continued development and sexual behaviour and drive. As such, sex and hormonal disorders can stunt growth, cause abnormalities in growth and increase or decrease our sex drive and desire. The most common form of sex and hormonal disorders are the creation of too much, or too little, of one hormone.

Male Sex And Hormonal Disorders

The male sex hormone is called androgen and is created in the testacles and the adrenal glands above the kidney. Specifically they are responsible for the development of sexual organs and also dictate sexual behaviour. In men, the most common of sex and hormonal disorders is the under or over production of testosterone or an over production of female hormones.

Female Sex And Hormonal Disorders

Estrogens, progesterone and prolactin are the most active female hormones and, similarly to male sex and hormonal disorders the most common disorders in women are the over or under production of any one or more of these hormones. Again, another relatively common problem is the production of too much male hormone.

The Symptoms Vary

Symptoms of each of these will differ but generally include a change in physical appearance and mood swings or heightened moods. An increase or decrease in sex drive and sexual activity may also be a sign that a person is suffering from sex and hormonal disorders.

Causes

Causes of sex and hormonal disorders can be anything that effects the creation of hormones. Low body fat, birth problems, unusual menstrual cycles and even hormonal supplements are often responsible for sex and hormonal disorders in women. Infections, the consumption of alcohol or other substances and hereditary problems are the most common cause in men.
